Chapter 1 by Year 4
We were introduced to our Viking characters; Hiccup, Snotlout, Fishlegs, Speedifist, Stoick the Vast, Gobber the Belch, Tuffnut Junior, Wartihog, Clueless.  They were given an initiation challenge to capture a dragon.

Chapter 2 by Isabella
The Vikings were ready for training but, Hiccup wasn’t confident. Hiccup was chosen to be in charge because his dad was the current leader of the clan.  Snotlout did not think that Hiccup should be a leader because he thought he was useless. Snotlout wasn’t the only person who thought about that, even the trainers also were on the same boat.

Chapter 2 by Martin
They were in the dragon nursery. Snotlout pushed Hiccup out off the way and commanded everyone. Hiccup went in first. They all smelled the dragon stench. The dragons were all fast asleep and some were snoring. They were looking for the biggest dragon that can fit in their basket. Snotlout tried to find a Monsterous Nightmare. Hiccup found a dragon that was the right size and put it in carefully. Fishlegs woke up the dragons. The dragon chased the vikings out of the cave.  Gobber punched the dragons away from the boys. The Vikings had to jump out of the cave in the river below, Hiccup nearly drowned down in water.

Australia Day

In our History Unit we are exploring Celebrations Around the World.  The first celebration we explored was Australia Day. Check out the Fact File we created about Australia Day.

Australia Day
Date celebrated: 26th January
Why is it celebrated? Australia Day celebrates the arrival of the First Fleet in Sydney Cove on 26th January 1788.  Indigenous Australians think that we should celebrate the day on another day because understandably for them it is a sad day.
How is it celebrated? Australians go to concerts, have BBQs and many people from other countries become citizens. The Australian of the Year is announced at a big celebration on the day before Australia Day.

How do you and your family celebrate Australia Day?
