This Term we are reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory By Roald Dahl. We will be keeping you up with our progress through the chapters. Here are our summaries for the first 8 Chapters.

Chapter 1
The Bucket Family is a very poor family. Their son Charlie is a lover of chocolate unfortunately he only gets a chocolate bar once a year on his birthday. To make things worse he lives near Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.
Chapter 2
After dinner Charlie went and sat with his grandparents who began telling him about the wonderful Mr Willy Wonka. Mr Willy Wonka could make marvellous but absurd creations like making chocolate ice cream that never melted and chewing gum that would not lose its taste.
Chapter 3
Grandpa Joe told a story to Charlie. Mr Willy Wonka built Prince Pondicherry (an Indian Prince) a castle made out of chocolate. Mr Wonka warned the prince to start eating the palace, unfortunately he did not and on a hot day the palace melted. Grandpa Joe also informed Charlie that no workers went into the factory and no workers left the factory.
Chapter 4
Grandpa Joe continued telling Charlie about Mr Willy Wonka. He said that Mr Willy Wonka had to close the factory because spies were stealing his ideas. One day the chimneys started bellowing smoke again but the gates were still closed. Through the windows the shadows of little workers could be seen. Just then Mr Bucket came in through the door saying ‘Mr Wonka will open the factory to a lucky few!’
Chapter 5
Willy Wonka had an article in the newspaper announcing that he was going to hide 5 golden tickets in his Wonka Bars. These golden tickets would allow 5 children to enter his chocolate factory.
Chapter 6
The whole world was searching frantically for the golden tickets. Augustus Gloop (an extremely fat boy) found the first golden ticket. A spoilt girl, Veruca Salt found the second golden ticket. Who will find the next golden tickets?
Chapter 7
It was Charlie’s birthday, he woke up and went into his Grandparent’s room. There was great suspense as he carefully unwrapped his chocolate bar birthday present. The chocolate bar was a Wonka’s Whipple-Scrumptious Fudgemallow Delight. He was hoping that there would be a golden ticket under the wrapper. Unfortunately, there was not, it was just a bar of chocolate.
Chapter 8
The next two golden tickets were found. One was found by Violet Beauregarde, a world record holder gum chewer. She had been chewing her current piece of gum for a solid three months. The other ticket was found by Mike Teavee, who loved watching gangster and shooting movies. Mike Teavee collected toy pistols and wore them around his body.

ReplyDeletemy favourite character from "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory" is Augustus Gloop because he is very funny and loves chocolate like me!!

I cant believe that Augustus Gloop is so Dotty and fat that he fell and got chocolate river and he got chocolate all over him self.

ReplyDeleteI think that my favorite character is Charlie Bucket because he is a very kind person and he is not greedy like Augustus, he doesn't whine like Veruca Salt, He does not chew gum all day and he certainly does not sit around and play video games and watch TV like Mike Teevee.(It clearly says he likes to watch TV in his name!).

ReplyDeleteMy favourite character is Charlie Bucket. I like him because I knew he would get the golden ticket, even though he is poor and does not have any money. I knew that he would get the golden ticket becuase in my feelings I knew he would get the ticket.
